Cranswick Lakefield Shiraz Cabernet 2007 (function wine)
(Red Wine 75cl)

14% Alcohol/Volume

Wine of South Eastern Australia
78% Shiraz, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon

This Shiraz Cabernet, a deep red wine displays mulberry fruit and spice with hints of dark chocolate on the palate and a long, balanced finish. Made for immediate enjoyment, serve on its own or with all kinds of red meat, pizza, game and pasta dishes.

Both the Shiraz and Cabernet grapes were harvested at 14.0 Be. The must was fermented at temperatures between 18 and 25°C in order to help extract flavour and colour components from the grape skins. The skins were then gently pressed, with only the free run fraction being kept ensuring that only soft tannins would be present in the final wine. The wine was then stored on French oak staves for a few months prior to bottling.

The Lakefield Nature Reserve on the Cape York Peninsula is one of Australia’s largest nature reserves. Drained by massive rivers its spectacular wetlands are home to rare wetland birds such as our emblem, the Australian Sarus crane, Barramundi fish and the world’s largest reptile, the saltwater crocodile.

Company Profile:

The name Cranswick Estate is synonymous with an elegant and much revered bird, the crane, whose natural habitat is sparsely populated wetland areas. The Cape York peninsular, where the cranes over winter and breed, is home to over half of Australia’s known bird species, including the rare Sarus crane.

The Cranswick brand was created in 1991 when Graham Cranswick-Smith initiated a management buy-out of Diageo's bulk winemaking facility in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia.  Since then Cranswick has transformed from producing bulk wine for major Australian producers to producing and marketing it's own broad range of Australian varietal wines, with a strong reputation for excellent quality and outstanding value for money.

Cranswick Wines are expertly made to capture the ripe fruit flavours and to reflect the very best of Australian winemaking. Our grapes are sourced from selected vineyards across Australia and demonstrate the new elegance of contemporary Australian wines. All of our vineyards are under long term contracts and managed in a sustainable fashion with attention focused on fruit quality through canopy management and relatively low yields.
